15 Flight Attendant-approved Travel Essentials for 2026

It’s hard to believe we’re wrapping up 2025. I added a few new countries to my list this year, but somehow, I’m still nowhere near the 180 different nations currently welcoming U.S. travelers. Still, hitting Argentina for the first time just last week was a thrill and officially puts me at nearly half of the international destinations my carrier flies to.

Logging more than 1,100 flight hours annually leaves plenty of opportunities to chat with passengers about the newest gadgets, gear, and comfort items they’re bringing onboard. From upgraded compression packing cubes that instantly streamline chaotic suitcases to universal travel adapters that solve mid-trip charging scrambles, and even sleek containers for must-bring toiletries, travelers today are packing smarter than ever.

I’ve curated a list of 15 standout items—one of everything you need to stay organized, maximize comfort, and arrive feeling refreshed at your next destination.

I love this starter set, and after using it on a few trips, I’ll be adding various sizes to fit my specific needs.

Not only do the magnets help with packing, but when you open your container, you can stick the lid to the side of the container for reachable resealing. No more dropping lids on bathroom floors or closing up your lip balm with your foundation lid.

We do our best to keep the temperature moderate on the plane, but sometimes, you’re just cold. This cashmere wrap doubles as a lap blanket, and I absolutely love it. It comes in a color for every aesthetic and will last a lot longer than the cheapies you’ll be replacing after one wash.

In-flight entertainment has come a long way since I started flying 11 years ago. While traveling without electronics last winter was on trend, it’s a trend that thankfully passed quickly. Travelers always enjoy their own curated collection of entertainment, and headphones are required to partake. Beats has been a leader in the wearable audio industry, and the battery life on its Solo 4 headphones has made them a favorite for professional and leisure travelers alike. Also, take a tip from a flight attendant: use on-ear or wired earbuds while flying so you (and we) don’t have to crawl around on the floor to help you find the one that fell out when you were sleeping.

To me, your smaller carry-on item is as important as your rollaboard. An electric toothbrush has also become a no-go item for me. While my home kit is rechargeable, I’ve found this battery-operated toothbrush from Quip is perfectly sized for fresh breath on the road. One AAA battery keeps it running for three months, which is the same time frame the head should be replaced. And I don’t have to add an extra charging cord to my luggage.

It doesn’t matter if a flight is two hours or 12, airplane naps are essential—and so is this silk sleep mask. I love that its soft construction doesn’t include any plastic parts that can poke. Korean skincare is all the rage and for good reason. There’s no reason you can’t have glass skin on the go.
