7 Real ‘Bridgerton’ Filming Locations You Can Visit Across England

Dearest Gentle Readers,

With flirty kite flying, a steamy bath, and of course a dreamy cottage (butlers included), Season 4 of “Bridgerton” has come to a close, following the star-crossed Cinderella story of maid Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) and high society’s Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). While the Netflix series is set in London’s elegant Mayfair during the early 19th century, many of its most memorable scenes were filmed at historic locations across the United Kingdom that capture the Regency-era glamour of the Ton.

Since its debut in 2020, the Shonda Rhimes-produced series, based on Julia Quinn’s novels, has become one of Netflix’s most talked-about and most-watched shows. And while some scenes are filmed on purpose-built sets at Shepperton Studios in London, the production also highlighted some of Britain’s most storied estates and landmarks.

Ready to see those spots for yourself? Well then, hop in your carriage and ride over to some of the most dazzling Season 4 filming locations with us.

Shane and Ilya from “Heated Rivalry” had their modern Canadian cottage, but Benedict and Sophie had “My Cottage,” the countryside retreat where she nurses him back to health. When filmmakers first saw Surrey’s Loseley Park, they knew they had found the perfect setting for the pair’s romance. “The gag is that, yes, this is called a cottage, but actually it’s a monstrous stately home in the countryside,” the show’s supervising location manager, Tony Hood, told Shondaland.

The 400-year-old Elizabethan house sits on a 1,400-acre estate and remains the private home of the More-Molyneux family. On select dates, it opens to visitors, who can explore historic interiors including George IV’s coronation chair and the Drawing Room ceiling commissioned by James I. Outside, the 25-acre Walled Garden contains more than 1,000 Old English rose bushes alongside a serene White Garden planted in shades of cream and silver.

Fans hoping to extend the fantasy can even stay overnight. The on-site Chestnut Lodge sleeps two and comes with a full kitchen—though, sadly, Benedict’s loyal housekeepers, the Crabtrees, are not included.

With its regal iron gate and wisteria draping over its brick exterior on screen, the Bridgerton family home shines as the epitome of Mayfair opulence. In reality, the production filmed those exterior shots at Ranger’s House, a Georgian villa tucked inside Greenwich Park in southeast London. The facade, supervising location manager Paul Tomlinson told Shondaland, “has a welcoming quality that is not always the case with period houses of this size.”

Designed in 1723 for the Admiralty, the house has been home to a number of notable residents, including Augusta, Duchess of Brunswick, the eldest sister of King George III, and Princess Sophia Matilda of Gloucester, his niece. Today it houses the Wernher Collection, a 700-piece private gallery gathered by Sir Julius Wernher, featuring works ranging from Dutch Old Master paintings to Chinese tapestries. The house is currently closed to visitors but is expected to reopen for tours; check the site’s official listings for the latest details.

The Royal Air Force’s Halton station is one of the U.K.’s largest military bases, home to roughly 2,100 personnel. And if it looks familiar, that’s because its grand Halton House has served as the interior of the Bridgerton family residence since the series began.

Though if you want to see it, you’d better act quickly. The base is scheduled to close in stages, with a final shutdown planned for 2030. However, as of press time, the RAF noted that tours of Halton House—including its Officers’ Mess and ornate historic rooms—are still available on select dates.

On screen, it serves as the regal residence of Queen Charlotte. In real life, Hampton Court Palace is one of London’s most popular attractions. Located along the banks of the River Thames about 12 miles southwest of the city, the sprawling estate covers roughly 750 acres, including 60 acres of formal gardens. With Tudor architecture dating to Henry VIII’s reign alongside Baroque additions from William III and Mary II, the palace is a unique hybrid of eras.

In “Bridgerton” Season 4, the Great Fountain Garden sets the scene for Benedict’s stroll with his sister Eloise, while earlier seasons featured locations across the estate, including Fountain Court, the Privy Garden, and the Master Carpenter’s Court.

Calling itself a “unique 17th-century treasure trove,” the riverfront Ham House dates back to 1610 and was later gifted to William Murray by his childhood friend King Charles I in 1626. The stately flexed its acting chops on screen in “Bridgerton” Season 4, standing in for Bridgerton House, Penwood House, and even My Cottage during the kitchen scene with the Crabtrees. The masquerade meet-cute between Benedict and the mysterious “woman in silver” was also filmed here, with a pergola constructed on the South Terrace for the scene.

Today, visitors come to explore its remarkable collection of paintings, furniture, and decorative cabinets, as well as the surrounding gardens, including the Cherry Garden and the Kitchen Garden, whose harvests help supply the on-site Orangery Café. “Bridgerton vibes, spring colour and riverside walks? Say less. It’s the perfect day out,” the National Trust site wrote on Instagram on March 4.

Banished into servitude by her evil stepmother, Sophie grows up as a maid at Penwood House, brought to life on screen by the 16th-century Elizabethan mansion North Mymms Park in Hertfordshire. Today, the estate is primarily used as a wedding, event, and filming venue, and has also appeared in productions including “The Crown” and “Wonka.”

The property’s 19th-century stables have been converted into 26 guest bedrooms, offering overnight stays for event guests. But much of the estate’s appeal lies in its details, including its tree-lined drive leading to the mansion’s entrance, its decorative staircase in the High Gallery, and its perfectly manicured gardens.

Denham Place (Buckinghamshire)

If you happen to be in the market for a roughly $60 million British countryside estate with a Hollywood résumé, this one is currently for sale and listed with Sotheby’s International Realty. Denham Place stood in for Cavender House in “Bridgerton” Season 4, acting as the grand residence where Sophie finds employment after being sent away by Lady Araminta Gun.

The 12-bedroom, 39,724-square-foot estate dates back to 1688, and was recently restored by designer Alex Kravetz, whose work also includes London’s The Dorchester and Vienna’s Hotel Imperial. Set within 42 acres of parkland, the interiors feature lavish details including 22-carat gold leaf and handwoven silk wall panels produced at one of England’s oldest textile mills. And, again, if you do buy it, you get all those “Bridgerton” bragging rights.
