14 Best French-inspired Long Weekend Sales

Since I moved to Paris, winter has become one of my favorite seasons to shop for. I never had a need for serious outerwear living in the South of France or my hometown of Miami, so the switch to actual seasons was a fashion challenge I fully embraced. While ensembles aren’t quite as eccentric as what you may see on Emily in Paris, the French know how to make boxy layers and heavy knits look as lightweight and chic as a silk slip dress—which they’ll also wear even when temperatures are below freezing (with faux fur, of course).

While I don’t do New Year’s resolutions, I do believe in starting the year with a closet refresh—especially when long weekend sales are in full swing. After years of bookmarking Paris street style, I’ve taken cues from French women to build a winter capsule that works everywhere from Fashion Week dinners to weekends in the Alps. Think the jeans French women are wearing right now, polished layers, and investment-worthy staples like a vegan leather jacket—all marked down for the long weekend. Ahead, the French-inspired winter essentials I’m shopping from Amazon, Quince, J.Crew, and more, with deals starting at just $14.

Best Deals Overall

SySea Shaggy Cardigan

Amazon

Boho-chic is a style the French embrace year-round, and as a long-time Almost Famous fan, I’m all for anything mimicking Penny Lane. I’ve seen a ton of shearling around Paris, but a style that’s more wallet-friendly and wearable well into spring is this shaggy cardigan from SySea. Designed to mimic fur, this super soft fringe jacket can be worn with a sweater dress and tights for a night out, or you can pair it with a wide-brimmed hat and straight-leg jeans for a day of shopping and sightseeing around the city.

Gap Vegan Leather Bomber Jacket

Gap

Leather and shearling are my favorite combo for winter—edgy but elevated. I have a style similar to this faux leather jacket from Rails that I wear casually every day with jeans and ankle boots, out to dinner over a cropped sweater and midi leather skirt with tights, and even in the mountains during après-ski over a long-sleeve top with ski pants. For a more affordable alternative, this bomber jacket is one you’ll keep getting compliments for—and it’s 60 percent off right now.

J.Crew Barrel-leg Jean

J.Crew

Vogue France declared 2026 the year of the barrel jeans—a look that’s long been popular with Parisians. More recently, the silhouette made a cameo on the runway with designers like Celine, but there are plenty of versions of the horseshoe-shaped jeans that look expensive but are much more budget-friendly. One of my favorites is this dark denim take from J.Crew that comes in a petite length—perfect if you’re short like me. Tuck in a ribbed long-sleeve top, accessorize simply with a leather belt, slip into a pair of block-heel ankle booties, and you’re ready for everything from shopping in Paris to Fashion Week parties. Plus, you can save an extra 40 percent off with promo code SHOPSALE.

Madewell Bouclé-knit Crewneck Sweater

Madewell

Sailor stripes feel far too summery when temperatures are below freezing in Paris, but this subtle cream-and-navy crewneck sweater from Madewell is a seasonal take that’ll still look great if you’re on a boat in Brittany in spring. The ribbed, textured bouclé fabric (which means “curled” in French) nods to Coco Chanel’s classic tweed jackets, yet is casual enough for day-to-day wear when paired with dark denim and layered over a turtleneck on particularly chilly days. Shop it now during Madewell’s End of Season sale and use code NEWYEAR for an extra 40 percent off.

Quince Sherpa Half-zip Jacket

Quince

Paris has been much colder than usual this winter. If you’ve been scrolling Instagram, I’m sure you’ve come across every influencer in the city’s photos of Paris’ boulevards and iconic buildings blanketed in snow. It’s no surprise, then, that I’ve seen much more fleece on the streets this year. As I’ve been online shopping for a jacket of my own, I came across this half-zip sweatshirt from Quince that feels equal parts sporty and chic—appropriate enough for a casual day running from Pilates to lunch with friends, as well as for upcoming ski trips to the French Alps. If you want to elevate the look, a pair of leather pants and slick ankle boots will certainly do the trick.

Rouje Cleria Dress

Rouje

The LBD gets a Parisian makeover in the Rouje Cleria Dress that’s printed with red polka dots. Parisian brand Rouje is an arbiter of cool, and founder Jeanne Damas’s flirty dresses are feminine and timeless. This style is my pick for the season since the V-neck and cinched mesh create a flattering silhouette that is sexy without being too revealing. The rest of the season, I’ll sport it with sheer black tights, slingback kitten heels, and a dramatic faux fur coat with a matching shade of red lipstick, of course, like my go-to rouge from Givenchy.

U-lite Lace-up Wingtip Leather Oxfords

Amazon

A quick way to dress up a simple jeans-and-sweater combo is with classic, vintage-inspired oxfords. This style of footwear is one the French practically live in, pairing them with tapered trousers and an oversized coat in the winter or with socks and a midi dress in spring. A more polished look than sneakers, these lace-up wingtip leather oxfords are an affordable take on more expensive designer leather versions and won’t need time to be broken in—a huge bonus in my books. As one of 7,000–plus shoppers at Amazon raved: “The first time I wore them, I wore them all day at work and they were comfortable right out of the gate!”

Cicy Bell Open-front Blazer

Amazon

Outerwear is one area of clothing the French never fail to impress with. It’s all about the tailoring, so something as simple as a blazer can help pull an entire outfit together if it’s designed the right way. So, what’s the trick to avoiding looking like you’re heading to the office? Opt for a slimmer silhouette with a stylish lapel collar like this version from Cicy Bell at Amazon. Layer this blazer under a thicker wool coat on chilly days, or sport it with a cashmere sweater and silk scarf with a pop of color, and you’ll exude Parisian chic.

Fahsyee Faux Leather Skirt

Amazon

A pencil skirt exudes instant polish, but for a look that feels more evening-ready, go shorter with a style like this faux leather version from Fahsyee. A crisp button-down inspired by Chanel’s recent runway show is the perfect pairing, but this look can also be more casual with a chunky knit and Chelsea boots. A leather skirt is my winter go-to when I want something more dressed up than jeans that’s still easy to throw on and mix and match for both day and night.

Btfbm Sleeveless Sweater Vest

Amazon

In the winter, one of my favorite basics is a sweater vest. An easy piece to layer, a stylish knit like this top can be worn with a leather jacket or blazer, paired with a leather mini skirt or dark denim, and looks great on its own when you’re in a cozy restaurant or bar. Effortlessly chic, this piece can be tucked in or worn loose and is “warm yet light enough to not feel bulky at all,” says one shopper. I can see myself wearing this practically every season—even over a bikini top with shorts at the beach in Nice this summer.

T Tahari Braided Cable Duster Cardigan

Nordstrom Rack

I’ve been loving the comeback of caped coats this season in Paris, but the style is not always the most practical—or easy to layer. This hooded duster from Free People is modeled after the ones designed to keep riders on horseback dust-free during the Wild West days, but it’s cropped and modernized with a sophisticated, wide shawl collar and draped sleeves. Or, if you prefer a sweater over a jacket, this cable duster from Nordstrom Rack is the one; with its statement collar and belted waist, it’s as polished as it is cozy.

Banana Republic Factory Weekender Twist Sweatshirt

Banana Republic Factory

While visiting my parents for Christmas in Florida, Miami experienced a cold snap and I didn’t have anything to throw on over my tees and tanks on chilly mornings. I popped into a Banana Republic Factory with my mom and found this sweatshirt. Pair with dark denim and a boxy, oversized wool coat for days, you’ll look as pulled together as a Parisian—especially with a pair of timeless Chelsea ankle boots and a cashmere scarf.

Stuart Weitzman Cecily Bootie

Stuart Weitzman

I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of cognac-colored riding boots that capture Hermès’s chic equestrian aesthetic. Most of the boots I came across were too high or difficult to pull on and off (living alone, I don’t have someone who can help when I’m struggling with boots stuck to my calves). A longtime Stuart Weitzman fan, I knew I’d find the perfect compromise at a price point within my modest freelance writer budget. This pair from the Stuart Weitzman Outlet is super comfortable thanks to its flat block heel and rounded square toe, and the western-inspired design details (I’m obsessed with the gold horsebit!) are sophisticated touches that take these boots from day to night.

Quince Italian Suede Small Shoulder Bag

Quince

If you want to embrace the 90s and Y2K shoulder bag trend but can’t shell out for designer vintage (or the revived equivalent from the likes of Gucci or Prada), you’re not alone. I hadn’t worn a style like this in years, so I was hesitant that the trend would be just that—a fleeting moment. Not the case in Paris, where everyone seems to have received the memo and hopped on the bandwagon. For a piece that captures the retro-chic style while still looking modern, this Italian suede shoulder bag from Quince is my pick. Chocolate brown is a versatile shade for the season, and the compact design and sleek gold hardware match practically everything.
