Cameo Beverly Hills
- The hotel is in a quiet residential area but walking distance to the heart of Beverly Hills.
- All the rooms have private balconies with views.
- The unique Peruvian restaurant is a welcome addition to the Beverly Hills dining scene.
After a hectic holiday season with house guests, I checked into the new Cameo Beverly Hills, LXR Hotels & Resorts, for a much-needed solo staycation. I have a long history of working in the area: first, for the late-night talk show host Merv Griffin, who purchased the Beverly Hilton hotel back in the late ’80s, and later, for the Beverly Hills Courier. And for the last 15 years, I’ve known this hotel as Mr. C Beverly Hills, a celebrity hot spot by the Cipriani family, known for their worldwide supper club empire. The hotel just became part of Hilton’s upscale LXR portfolio of independent properties in December 2025.
Located on the suburban side of Beverly Hills, a short walk to Beverly Drive and Rodeo Drive, the 138 rooms and 12 suites have undergone a $30 million renovation. The spa, fitness center, and poolside area are also getting a refresh. For those who fondly remember the former property, the lobby lounge bar remains, along with the 12th-floor Starlight Ballroom with panoramic city views. The ground-floor restaurant has morphed into Peruvian-inspired Zampo.
The hotel’s renewed aesthetic was guided by Premier, a Texas-based design studio. The end result is an enclave for travelers seeking a quieter Los Angeles stay with a touch of old Hollywood glam. “What excites me most is seeing locals rediscover the property as a place that truly belongs to them,” says Sonesh Mool, the general manager of Cameo, in an interview with Travel + Leisure. “Cameo is designed as a relaxed yet refined gathering spot for Beverly Hills, whether that’s cocktails at Silhouette, dinner at Zampo, or an afternoon by the pool.”
On arrival, I was glad to see familiar elements in the lobby: the black-and-white checkered marble and limestone floors and high-gloss rosewood veneer wrapping the front desk area remains gloriously intact. I also spotted some new additions as I sipped my welcome glass of Champagne: the trio of round mirrored art pieces by LA-based artist Nick Biddle behind the check-in area was a personal favorite.
Here, everything you need to know about Cameo, the newest addition to the Beverly Hills hospitality scene.
The Rooms
My 11th-floor Los Angeles Suite had not one but two private balconies. If you are planning to work on your visit, the mini-suites have an executive office nook with a desk. One-bedroom suites have deep soaking tubs, and the Sunset Boulevard Suite is, I suspect, a touch quieter than the Pico Boulevard-facing rooms.
All accommodations include spa-inspired bathrooms awash in Italian marble. Plush adds include Frette linens and Byredo Bal d’Afrique amenities, along with tasteful small white pottery pieces from Kassatex New York to hold grooming essentials.
Food and Drink
Cameo Beverly Hills, LXR Hotels & Resorts
Silhouette is the all-day lounge that offers a snack menu and drinks in a very comfortable setting with a fireplace and banquette seating. I was thrilled they had a selection of Pisco cocktails; I tried all three over the course of my 24-hour stay. Every drink uses house-made tinctures, reductions, and garden-picked botanicals. The bar bites were on point with chicken wings in a vibrant green sauce and crispy fried calamari. They also have a 50/50 brisket-short rib burger, which I look forward to trying on my next visit.
For dinner, Zampo is the main restaurant taking over the old space that Mr. C Italian restaurant once occupied. There are plenty of steakhouses and Italian eateries in Beverly Hills already, so this is a refreshing option. The Peruvian classic lomo saltado is a must-order dish of beef tenderloin, sautéed sweet onions, and French fries, all served with an aji amarillo–based sauce. The menu also offers a wide selection of seafood options, from yellowtail crudo to jalae mixta with lightly fried halibut, shrimp, and squid.
Activities and Experiences
Cameo Beverly Hills, LXR Hotels & Resorts
The updated pool deck, once completed, will have private cabanas, teak loungers, and views of the iconic Beverly Hills palm trees. Yoga and other fitness classes will be offered through the gym. Guests can expect live jazz in the lobby each week.
The Spa
Next to the fitness center, the spa will be located in the basement area, but is not yet open.
Accessibility and Sustainability
Guest rooms are all in compliance with ADA, with many offering accessible clearance for wheelchairs and audible chimes for the hearing impaired.
Location
This hotel is just off Pico Boulevard, which is technically the Beverly Hills/Beverlywood/Cheviot Hills border. It’s quieter (and less expensive) than being on Rodeo Drive. You will be in close proximity to the Los Angeles Country Club’s two 18-hole par 72 courses, the Museum of Tolerance, and Kosher markets and delis on Pico-Robertson, along with all the excitement of the Beverly Hills Golden Triangle.
