A Disney Park Writer’s 9 Most Comfortable Shoes

As a theme park journalist who covers Walt Disney World, I’m in the parks at least a few times each month. On a typical park day, I easily log 20,000-plus steps, from rope drop through nighttime fireworks. While you can spend months planning the perfect Disney trip, I know firsthand how quickly it can fall apart if you don’t wear the right shoes. No matter how many Lightning Lanes or hard-to-score dining reservations you snag, your experience is bound to suffer if you’re focused on your sore feet rather than the magic.

That’s why I’m always on the hunt for comfortable sneakers that are blister-resistant, breathable enough for the Florida heat, supportive on concrete, and able to withstand multiple miles without falling apart. The Brooks Ghost Max 3 has become one of my go-to sneakers for Disney park days, thanks to its reliable cushioning that keeps my feet happy, even when I’m clocking 20,000-plus steps day after day; they’re the shoes I rely on most for Disney park days, and I’ve tested them over countless miles in the parks, from dawn to dusk.

The plush midsole makes standing in long lines far more comfortable, while the added support makes exhausting walks across the parks feel noticeably easier. Whether I’m waiting it out in a queue or hustling to catch the monorail, these sneakers strike an ideal balance of comfort and stability. Like many new shoes, though, there can be some initial heel rubbing while breaking them in, so I recommend wearing them at home before your trip.

More Brooks Shoes to Shop:

While I’m a die-hard fan of Brooks running shoes, I like to cycle them out on Disney trips with other styles. Keep scrolling for more comfortable walking shoes I trust for theme park trips, including styles from Hoka, Allbirds, Gola, and New Balance.

Allbirds Women’s Tree Runner NZ Shoes

Allbirds

Lightweight and breathable, the Allbirds Tree Runner NZ is a smart choice that’ll keep you cool despite Florida’s infamously sunny, high-temperature afternoons. The eucalyptus-fiber knit upper provides plenty of air flow, while the cushioned sole offers enough support for both casual park strolls and travel days that involve lots of walking. Its minimalist design also makes it a great day-to-night shoe, carrying you from rides to restaurants.

Allbirds Women’s Wool Cruiser Slip-on Shoes

The Allbirds Wool Cruiser Slip-on might not be the best choice for high-impact park days, but it’s a reliable option for periods of downtime. When you’re racing to make your mobile food order pickup window and don’t have time to fuss with laces, the easy on-and-off design is a major plus. The soft merino wool upper keeps feet comfortable while walking around the resort, heading to meals, or winding down after a long day in the parks. Shoppers say they’re “comfortable right out of the box” and that the natural fiber uppers do a stellar job at “keeping your feet warm in the cold and cool in warmer temperatures.”

Hoka Women’s Bondi 9 Running Shoes

The Hoka Bondi 10 has one of the best impact-absorbing designs on the market, thanks to its durable rubber outsoles and premium foam midsoles. The plush collar will protect the back of your heels, and the padded tongue keeps feet feeling supported but not suffocated. It’s an especially good sneaker for Disney days that involve thousands of steps on concrete, as they’ll help keep fatigue at bay all the way through nighttime fireworks.

Hoka Women’s Clifton 10 Running Shoes

The Clifton 10, Hoka’s latest iteration of the widely-beloved Clifton running shoe, strikes the perfect balance between the brand’s signature cushioning and a lightweight, breezy feel. The breathable mesh upper works well in warm weather, while the EVA foam midsole provides supportive, lasting comfort. Many five-star reviewers shared that they were recommended this style by foot specialists, including one shopper who had “no foot pain” after logging 18,000 steps on a trip. “My podiatrist told me to keep wearing these; he highly recommended them,” wrote another reviewer. “These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.”

Gola Women’s Elan Sneakers

This retro-style Gola Elan sneaker pairs perfectly with vintage Epcot graphic tees during the day as well as jeans and a cute top for dinner at Disney Springs, making it an easy, wear-anywhere option. The cushioned insole provides comfortable support for walking around, while the casual design keeps it versatile enough for evenings out. One five-star reviewer wrote, “These shoes require zero break[ing] in, which has been true for all Golas I’ve owned. I’m a huge fan and get lots of compliments!”

Gola Women’s Tornado Sneakers

This Tornado sneaker has Gola’s iconic, vintage-inspired look with a more performance-forward silhouette, making it a great choice for heavy walking days. The lightweight build and cushioned sole offer comfortable support, while the low-profile design makes it easy to pack, especially when your bag is already full of Minnie Mouse ears and theme park essentials. With 17 fun color combinations to choose from, you’re bound to find a shoe that suits your individual style.

New Balance Unisex RC42 Sneaker

Amazon

The sleek New Balance RC42 is a strong choice when you want something streamlined and easy to style. It feels less bulky than a traditional running shoe, making it comfortable for park days and resort hopping, while the cushioned footbed and flexible sole provide just the right amount of support. Throw them on with a pair of workout shorts, or sport them with a fun Disneybounding ensemble; the options are truly endless with this versatile sneaker.

New Balance Unisex 530 Sneaker

New Balance

With its chunky, 90s-inspired silhouette, the New Balance 530 is a great shoe to pair with casual bike shorts and oversized tee, creating a comfy, laid-back look. The retro silhouette feels like a throwback to classic Disney vacations of years past, while the updated cushioning in the midsole holds up against long stretches of walking. It’s an easy pick when you want a sneaker that feels relaxed, nostalgic, and effortlessly cool.
