This Is the U.S. Attraction With the Best Value

  • A new study analyzed 47 paid U.S. attractions to determine which destinations travelers say are worth the price.
  • Disneyland Resort ranked as the best-value attraction despite its high ticket cost, thanks to strong reviews and limited “overpriced” mentions.
  • Six Flags America and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay were rated the most overpriced, while national parks dominated the best-value rankings.

The average American only gets about 11 paid vacation days per year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, so it’s understandable that most travelers want to make every one of those days count. Thankfully, InsureMyTrip recently released a report that evaluates the most popular tourist attractions in the U.S. and whether they’re worth the price they cost to visit or not.

The online travel insurance brokerage started its analysis by creating a seed list of 75 tourist attractions in the U.S. and then removed all the destinations that have free admission. It also didn’t consider places such as Lake Mead, NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, and South Street Seaport Museum, which were left out due to a lack of data, leaving 47 attractions for the study. It then analyzed the latest available data and reviews for the remaining spots, ranking them on factors including popularity, review ratings, the cost of general admission, and the percentage of reviews containing the word “overpriced” to reveal which of the most popular tourist attractions in the U.S. travelers say are worth the price.

After digging into the numbers, travelers named Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, as the top choice for a good time with value.

“With over 28,000 reviews and an impressive average rating of 4.4/5, Disneyland offers an experience that visitors believe is worth the cost,” the study stated. “While the average ticket price per day of $149 is among the most expensive in the study, reviews for the destination are overwhelmingly positive, with just 456 reviews stating it’s overpriced.”

Following closely behind is the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii, where tickets cost $29.99 for adults. The Morning Glory Pool in Yellowstone National Park, which costs $20 to enter, came in third.

And while all of these spots are great, the study noted that a whopping six out of the top 10 most reasonably priced tourist attractions are national parks. As the findings stated, more than 330 million people visited national parks in 2024, offering “proof that enjoying these parks remains one of America’s best-value travel experiences.”

On the other hand, the study found that of the 47 U.S. tourist attractions analyzed, Six Flags America Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey, ranked as the most overpriced, according to reviews, followed closely by Florida’s Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

“In today’s economy, value matters more than ever,” Sara Boisvert, the director of marketing at InsureMyTrip, said in a statement obtained by Travel + Leisure. “We hope these insights empower travelers to plan trips that deliver memorable experiences, without the regret of feeling like it wasn’t worth the cost.”
