Béis Carry-on Roller Review for Overpackers

I have a confession: While I may be an experienced travel writer and frequent flier, I’m also an overpacker. Whether I’m embarking on an Alaskan cruise or flying to a European city, I prefer to bring options and accessories to ensure I have an outfit for any occasion. This strategy ensures I’m well prepared for anything—or any weather—that could come up on a trip. Plus, you won’t catch me wearing the same outfit twice on vacation.

Still, I prefer to travel with only a carry-on suitcase whenever possible. And believe it or not, I often manage to pull this off, thanks to my Béis Carry-on Roller. I first switched to this carry-on suitcase in 2024 and used it at least once a month for all of 2025, while embarking on 16 flights and countless train rides. This suitcase’s spacious design and smart features make both packing and travel days easier.

I first found myself drawn to Béis—which was founded by actress Shay Mitchell—after seeing it all over my social media feeds. Celebrities such as Hailey Bieber and Jessica Alba have been spotted using the brand’s suitcases, and Oprah even recently included the brand on her Favorite Things list for 2025. But it’s the functionality that really won me over; from the first time I ever packed my Béis carry-on, I could tell that it was built differently than any suitcase I’ve used before.

This roller is a hard-shell style with a butterfly opening, so you can pack on both sides, which I generally prefer. It has four zippered interior sections, which maximize space and keep me extra organized, and comes with a drawstring bag for dirty clothes. One size zips while the other has compression straps, which is especially helpful when I’m packing sweaters and jackets.

Measuring 22.8 by 15.7 by 9.8 inches, this is one of the biggest carry-ons I’ve found. And while I feared it would be oversized for some airlines, I’ve never been asked to check it on a flight. It has fit seamlessly into overhead bins on multiple domestic and international flights, including on smaller, two-seater planes. I’m generally able to pack in my carry-on for long weekend trips with ease, along with my go-to Vera Bradly duffel bag as my personal item. For longer trips, I use my compression packing cubes to fit even more into my bag, and if I’m traveling for a week or longer, I pair my carry-on with the matching Medium Check-in Roller.

This year alone, I brought my carry-on with me everywhere from Turks and Caicos to Colorado. But, as a native New Yorker who refuses to take a cab over the subway, I really put it to the test on my monthly trips from Manhattan to Long Island to visit my family. I’ve wheeled this suitcase over rough sidewalks and in icy conditions, and it always moves with ease. I regularly walk up and down the subway steps with it in one hand and my dog in the other. This carry-on always keeps up with me, and never slows me down.

The Béis carry-on also has several smart features that set it apart from similar options. Firstly, the built-in weight indicator will turn red when your suitcase is over 50 pounds. It’s easier to use and more durable than other luggage scales—you just turn your suitcase over and lift it by the side handle, and it displays the weight. While I typically don’t worry about my carry-on being overweight, it comes really in handy with my Beis checked bag. Plus, the suitcase has an expander that can add an extra two inches to it, which is also useful when I buy souvenirs on trips. Once, I even fit a blanket into my carry-on on the way home from Disney World and was still able to fit it in the overhead bin of my flight.

The Carry-on Roller currently comes in nine colorways, ranging from Maple, a rich brown, to the light Atlas Pink. I first chose Honey, a limited-edition yellow that isn’t sold anymore, and have since invested in a Beige carry-on as well. The sleek look of these suitcases is what originally drew me to them; they are monochromatic down to the hardware, which makes them look more luxe. The only downside is that the lighter colors scuff easily, which is typical with most hardshell options. I prefer to use a luggage cover to avoid this, and Béis even sells options that match their suitcase colorways.

The Béis Carry-on Roller has over 18,700 five-star reviews with travelers praising everything from its looks to its durability and spacious interior, and it’s sure to upgrade your travel days, too. While you’re loading your cart, be sure to check out some more highly rated options from the brand. Read on for the best other Béis luggage and accessories for 2026.
