Netflix Users Beware-Netflix Pushing Scam 2023

Netflix user and love to watch movies and web series on the platform, you need to be cautious as cyber criminals are targeting users in a new way to steal their payment details. According to a report, these criminals are sending fake emails that appear to be from Netflix, although they originate from elsewhere. The report has also suggested ways to avoid such fraudulent practices.

In 2023, a group of Netflix users fell victim to this scam, according to a report by Check Point Research. The group’s manager, Omer Dembinsky, has exposed the methods of these fake scams and suggested ways to avoid them.

The cyber criminals behind this scam send fake emails that are designed to look like they have been sent from Netflix. These emails have a subject line that reads, “Update date requested – aka account on hold.” The email claims that a payment attempt has failed, and therefore, the user’s Netflix account has been suspended. The email includes a link through which users are asked to renew their subscription. Once the user clicks on the link, they are directed to a website where all the payment details are stolen.

However, the best way to avoid such fraudulent practices is to be vigilant and deny such emails. If you receive an email like this, the first step is to open the Netflix app and check your subscription status. It is advisable not to click on any link sent through mail or SMS from any unknown person.

To create confusion, cyber criminals may use wrong spellings, domains, typos, or misspelled dates. Therefore, it is important to provide employees with appropriate training on how to recognize such fraudulent practices.

It is important to note that cyber criminals are continuously coming up with new and innovative ways to steal personal information and payment details. Therefore, it is essential to keep oneself updated with the latest security measures and be cautious while sharing any personal information.
