Oprah’s Favorite Tote Makes a Versatile Travel Bag

Oprah knows a good tote—and when it comes time to carry all of her essentials and more, she reaches for the roomy bags from K. Carroll. The company has now been featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things list six times over the past decade. In 2022, she popularized the faux suede Taylor Tote, which quickly became a travel staple. Now, she’s recommending the quilted Riva Reversible Nylon Tote that’s super on-trend for winter.

Winfrey said the bag “has room for a laptop, water bottles, workout clothes, tablet, dog leash, sunblock, whatever.” The bag measures 20 inches wide and 14.5 inches tall. Totally stuffed, it can expand to 14 inches deep. If you don’t pack it totally full, it fits within most airlines’ carry-on size requirements. The brand also says it works as an under-seat personal item, so long as it’s not brimming. 

One Amazon reviewer wrote that “it’s perfect for travel, tailgating, the beach, and as an extra shopping bag.” Another reviewer said it “weighs nothing,” so you can easily squeeze it into your suitcase to take with you to the local farmers market or while souvenir hunting. 

One of the main highlights of the bag is, of course, its reversibility. Turn the olive green tote inside out and you get a rich rust color. On the flip side of red is gray, and underneath maroon is a regal gold. There are dozens of color combinations to choose from, and the “super cool” two-tone design means it’s twice as likely to match your outfit.

The material is a lightweight quilted nylon that repels sand and is easy to spot clean after the beach or the gym (the brand advises against machine washing). The bag has deep, water bottle-size side pockets with magnet fasteners, as well as padded straps and a convenient keyring.
