Rag & Bone’s Sweatpant Jeans Are the Best Travel Pants

Rag & Bone's Sweatpant Jeans Are the Best Travel Pants

Jeans are my eternal style struggle. On one hand, they look great, but on the other, the stiffness and lack of stretch? Total buzzkill. That’s why I’m always on the hunt for styles that feel good, too. Enter the viral and celebrity-loved “sweans,” the Rag & Bone Miramar Sofie High-waist Cotton Terry Sweatpant Jeans

Wondering how this sort of magic is possible? Rag & Bone’s revolutionary printing technique, Miramar, creates an optical illusion that makes any material look like denim. So, while they look like jeans on the outside, flip them inside out and you’ll be surprised to find soft, cotton terry fabric with the same feel and comfort as sweatpants underneath.

Once I heard about these, I knew I had to get my hands on a pair. They’ve not only replaced my uncomfortable denim, but they’ve also become a key element in my new travel uniform. Now, I can look cute and be comfortable — without anyone realizing I’m basically in my pajamas.

The Rag & Bone Miramar Sofie Cotton Terry Sweatpant Jeans have truly given me the best of both worlds. I’ve worn them to countless dinners and to the office and multiple people have said they love my jeans without realizing that they’re actually sweatpants. In fact, my friend was so skeptical she had to feel the soft fabric herself, and my mom? Well, she ordered a pair immediately when she found out they weren’t “real” jeans.

While there are several styles in the Rag & Bone Sweatpant Jean line, in my opinion, the Sofie Wide-leg Pant is the one to get. The flared cut and the real front button, zipper, and pockets — even the printed-on “wrinkles” — create such a convincing denim look that you’d swear they were regular jeans.

Sure, the $200-plus price tag is a bit of a splurge, but after wearing them on planes, trains, subways, road trips, and everywhere in between, I can confidently say the cost per wear has been worth it. I can’t wait to wear them on my next flight. I might get a few confused stares for wearing “jeans” on a plane, but I’ll know I’ve made the comfiest choice.

Another reason to hop on the sweatpant jeans trend is their versatility. I love using the belt loops to elevate the look with a statement belt, just as I would with an everyday pair of jeans. Whether I’m pairing my pants with a black turtleneck, belt, and sneakers for a chic yet laid-back vibe or going full cozy with a crewneck and Uggs (aka my airport go-to), they match the dress code for everything. I’ve even dressed them up with heels and a blouse for a dinner date, and you can easily wear them with pieces you already own — a light cardigan and flats, loafers and a blazer, and so on.

That impressive versatility also shines through in the fabric. I often associate sweatpants with heavy, fleecy materials, which I shy away from in the spring, but the cotton terry fabric makes them perfect for the warmer weather; they’re light enough not to feel overheated but still stretchy enough to keep you comfortable on the move.

Since joining my wardrobe, I will not be traveling in anything other than the Rag & Bone Miramar Sofie High-waist Cotton Terry Sweatpant Jeans. But I’ll need more affordable options for upcoming trips and events. Keep reading for similar sweatpant jeans styles from Halara, Gap, and more starting at $35.
