I’ve personally preferred slipper booties to regular slippers since I received my first pair during a holiday gift exchange in college. So naturally, for this test, I couldn’t wait to try Lilia’s Heated Slippers—and now they’re my all-time favorites. From their thick, ultra-sturdy outsoles to their fuzzy, well-constructed uppers, these slippers are seriously durable and likely to last through years of frequent wear. And despite their high quality materials, they’re incredibly lightweight. I assumed they’d weigh about as much as my Bearpaw Retro Super Shorty booties, but the slippers are significantly lighter (so I can pack them for winter vacations).
From classic slip-ons to fluffy booties, we wore a variety of heated slippers over the past two years to determine which styles were warmest, comfiest, and most durable. I personally fell in love with the Lilia Heated Slippers—our choice for best booties—for keeping me warm at home in Pennsylvania thanks to their lightweight construction and quick heat-up time, but we found a variety of other styles to keep you just as comfy throughout the winter.
It really doesn’t get much warmer and cozier than this pair of heated slippers. During our testing period, we wore them for everything from work-from-home days to evening bonfires and they kept our feet as toasty as can be through it all. Beyond providing luxurious warmth, we also loved how soft the interior lining is, how long the battery lasts (up to 11 hours on the lowest setting!), and how quickly they heat up after turning them on. While some other heated slippers only warm a portion of the foot, we felt these evenly heated the entire foot from top to bottom, toe to heel.
We were equally impressed with how easy the heat functions were to use. After charging the battery packs, we just slid them into the slippers and held down the button on each slipper for a few seconds to turn them on. They take just a few minutes to heat up, and we were able to easily click through different temperature settings using the button. While we wish these were a little more stylish and offered some extra arch support, we found ourselves reaching for them again and again.

After charging for about two hours, the Lilias were ready to go. They turned on with the click of a button on each slipper and heated up almost instantly. I often toggled between the three heat settings. The hottest setting was my favorite when I was lounging or working at my computer, but I noticed this setting was too hot when walking around. I actually preferred the lowest setting when I was on my feet, though the heat was barely noticeable on this setting when I was sitting down. While I loved that these effectively warmed my entire foot, I didn’t find them to be very breathable and typically wore them with socks to help wick sweat.

These are some of the lowest-maintenance heated slippers we tried during our test, simply because they barely needed recharging. We wore these for five days and a total of around 14 hours before we needed to recharge them—and we loved not having to get up to charge the slippers every few hours. The heat was sufficient, even on the lowest setting of 115 degrees. We also liked the soft, fuzzy inner lining as well as the side zipper that made for easy on and off.
We appreciated how quickly these slippers heat up and how easy it is to click through different heat settings using the button on the front of each slipper. The wires from the battery packs were bulky and noticeable, and at one point one even uncomfortably rubbed against our ankle, but we discovered a quick adjustment fixed that issue without compromising the heat functions.

If you’re searching for a pair of heated slippers you can wear inside and outside like a sturdy pair of shoes, look no further than Volt’s 3V Slip-on Camp Heated Slippers. We wore these while lounging at home, working in the garage, and on walks around the neighborhood without any issues or discomfort. The key is the sneaker-like outsole paired with a non-bulky construction, allowing these heated slippers to seamlessly blend into our everyday lives. These truly look and feel like outdoor shoes thanks to their durable materials—but the comfy and soft interiors quickly reminded us they are, indeed, slippers.
While the heating instructions weren’t initially super clear, they were easy to navigate once we figured it out. Unlike the other battery-operated slippers we tested, these slippers rely on a remote rather than a built-in button to turn on and off and change the temperature. We found the battery pack placement a little awkward since the slippers are more shoe-like and have less bulk, but the heat-up was quick and warmed our entire foot.

If you’d prefer to warm up without the hassle of wires and charging, opt for Marshmallow’s Warmies Slippers. With these lightweight, lavender-scented fuzzy slippers, all you have to do is pop them in your microwave for 60 seconds (or longer if you like them extra-hot) to enjoy up to an hour of soothing warmth. While testing these, we noticed they didn’t stay warm for quite an hour, but this may depend on the microwave used and the time spent heating them.
Over the course of our testing period, we became more and more obsessed with these, simply because they are so soft and plush. With the addition of the easy heating element, these feel like a dream when kicking your feet up at the end of the day. We do recommend the Warmies for lounging specifically, though, as they have soft, pliable soles that don’t offer much support while walking.

You can’t go wrong with classic slip-on slippers, especially when they offer a boost of heat. We love this pair from Dr. Warm because they worked just as well for us outdoors as they did indoors, and the heat controls couldn’t be easier to use. We were also pleasantly surprised to find they’re very lightweight, even with the battery packs tucked into the built-in Velcro pockets. Speaking of the pockets, we discovered the battery packs don’t fit perfectly inside them unless you turn them on their side, which makes it a little harder to reach the heat controls, but overall is more efficient.
As we tested these slippers, we just found more and more to love about them. The interior is soft and warm, the exterior is durable, and the rubber outsoles offer support and foot protection, even over debris. We were impressed with just how breathable they were despite their thick, fuzzy lining, and they even packed well into luggage. Our biggest gripe is that they took significantly longer to fully charge than others we tested (a whopping 10 hours), but we wonder if that was a fluke with the specific pair we tested.

While most heated slippers have two or three heat settings, this pair from Rtdep has four. We wore the slippers every day during our testing period, and no matter the temperature outside, we could always reach our ideal warmth thanks to the multiple heat settings on these slippers. They were so effective, in fact, we didn’t have to turn the heat up as high in our home—the slippers kept us plenty warm. They’re also perfect for the outdoors thanks to their sturdy sneaker-like outsole, so we wore them to the grocery store, laundromat, and more.
We were most impressed by just how hot these slippers can get. They never felt too hot, but they definitely gave us a dreamy boost in warmth every time we wore them. It took a pretty average time to charge (3-4 hours) and the batteries lasted pretty long (up to 8 hours on the lowest setting), but they strangely took the longest to heat up of all the slippers we tested. While most pairs heated up in a matter of minutes, the Rtdeps took 20 to 30 minutes to fully heat.

Others We Liked
While these three heated slipper options didn’t make it onto our main list based on some issues we found during testing, we still think they’d be a good fit for some shoppers.
Snook-ease Mary Jane Style Slippers With Heated Insoles: These slippers are plenty comfy and easy to warm up thanks to their microwaveable inserts. While we enjoyed wearing them for lounging, they offered almost no support or padding, so they weren’t ideal for walking around in.
Ulefi Electric Foot Warmer Heated Booties: We loved how soft these booties are and how fast they heat up once turned on. That said, they were not breathable at all, nor were they as high quality as other booties we tested.
Sharper Image Heated Slipper Socks: These heat up quickly, have non-slip outsoles, and have kept us very cozy over the course of our testing period. However, the inner lining tends to bunch up uncomfortably, forcing us to adjust it frequently. Also, these are definitely more like socks than slippers.

Our Testing Process
We’ve tested 16 pairs of heated slippers in the past two years. Before ever even putting them on, we first took careful note of each slipper’s fabric, stitching, construction, and heating functions. Next, we charged the slippers, noting how long it took to reach a full charge.
For Bluetooth-enabled slippers, we downloaded the corresponding apps, paired our phone with the slippers, and paid close attention to the app’s functionality in controlling the slippers. We then wore the slippers with the heating settings turned on at least four times for at least an hour each time to get a feel for how warm, comfortable, and functional the slippers actually were—and how long their heating elements lasted.

Tips for Buying Heated Slippers
Look for slip-resistance
While it’s tempting to focus purely on coziness when shopping for heated slippers, it’s important to also consider slip-resistance to ensure your slippers are actually functional, too. Slip-resistance may come in the form of hard outsoles similar to the ones you’d find on sneakers or boots, or sticky bottoms to efficiently grip the floor. For safety, test your slippers’ slip-resistance on a solid, hard floor before walking up or down stairs in your home.

Don’t forget about arch support
If you plan on doing anything other than lounging in your heated slippers, you’ll want to choose a pair with arch support. To prevent your arches from getting sore, opt for slippers with a hard outsole, a well-padded insole, and a built-in arch that matches the arch type of your feet (low, neutral, or high). Finding a pair of slippers with the right arch support for you will come in especially handy when you’re spending all day on your feet or wearing your slippers outdoors.

Consider the power source
Before purchasing a pair of heated slippers, think about what type of power source you’d prefer. Microwaveable slippers are perhaps the easiest to use since they warm up in a minute or so, but they don’t stay hot as long as rechargeable slippers, and most microwaveable options lack a hard sole and arch support.
Rechargeable slippers take at least an hour to fully charge and the battery packs add a bit of weight and bulk, but they stay warm much longer than microwaveable options and often have sturdier soles that allow for outdoor use. Heated slippers that rely on disposable batteries require the least maintenance as they don’t need to be charged, but will likely be the heaviest and bulkiest options.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do heated slippers help with circulation?
Yes, heated slippers are known to help with circulation. Heat applied to the body tends to dilate blood vessels, which improves blood flow, according to Highett Podiatry. Heated slippers are especially helpful for those with diabetes and other conditions that cause poor circulation, but consult your doctor for specific recommendations and guidelines.
-
How long do heated slippers last?
It depends on the slippers you buy, but most of the pairs we tested stayed hot for around seven hours on their lowest setting. Some lasted longer, like the Volt Lava Heated Indoor/Outdoor Rechargeable Boot Slippers, which offered heat for around 14 hours on the lowest setting, while microwaveable pairs stayed warm for just an hour or two. Keep in mind that if you bump the heat up to a higher setting, your slipper batteries will last for a shorter amount of time.
-
Can I pack battery-powered heated slippers?
You can pack your heated slippers in your luggage, but if they use lithium batteries, you must pack the batteries in your carry-on or personal item, even if you pack the slippers themselves in your checked luggage. Unfortunately most heated slippers do use lithium batteries, but the good news is that means you can wear your heated slippers during your flight for an extra-cozy travel day.
