Known for her viral “that friend who” videos, TikTok comedian Sabrina Brier’s next post may just be about her—especially if it’s travel-themed.
“I’m always going to be the girl who wants to get to the airport super early and I’m never going to be chill about that,” the social media star told Travel + Leisure. “If I’m traveling with someone, that’s something they’re going to need to understand. I’m never going to be the girl who just rolls in.”
And Brier, whose videos parody stereotypical behaviors—like “that friend who needs your approval” and “that friend who’s constantly giving advice to her besties,” won’t be changing her mind anytime soon.
“I’m getting there very early even if it means just sitting in a corner somewhere,” she said. “I could sit somewhere for a really long time and do nothing but what I can’t handle is sprinting to a gate.”
The comedian and actor weighed in on the classic, yet controversial, airport debate while chatting about her recent partnership with JetBlue and Pepsi. The Connecticut native, who has lived in New York City for eight years now, told T+L that she can’t help but feel a connection to the carrier, known as “New York’s Hometown Airline.
“I’m also a New York-based girl,” she noted. (She mentioned a few of her favorite restaurants are American Bar and La Lanterna di Vittorio in downtown Manhattan and Lilia in Williamsburg.)
While flying JetBlue, Brier touted the amenity kits offered in the airline’s Mint class which include products by Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, toiletry essentials, and more, in a drawstring backpack by Caraa.
“I’m just the type of person where I just love any sort of swag or anything free, really,” Brier joked, also mentioning the airline’s free Wi-Fi which allows her to get some work done in-flight.
When it comes to pet peeves in the air, though, she does have a perfect seatmate in mind.
“You say ‘Hello,’ so you’re not feeling so weird being in such close quarters, but I would say after a little bit of chat I’m good on that,” she explained. “I want to feel a connection to you but then I don’t want to talk to you for the whole trip and then at the end, I want to say, ‘Bye it was so nice to meet you.’”
Adding, “As long as someone’s stuff is under their seat and not bothering me, I’m good.”
At the same time though, she worries about being “that” fellow passenger when she has to climb over a neighbor to use the bathroom.
“I feel like I’m the annoying person because I’m the person who always has to pee on the plane,” she admitted. “I would rather feel comfortable sitting in the seat and knowing that the person who I’m going to be climbing over is going to hate me, I accept that.”
Brier, who starred in an episode of Abbott Elementary last year, and regularly flies across the country for work, also has the perfect recipe for when it’s time to unwind with friends on a girls trip. (Hint: keep the itinerary light.)
“I think with girls, when you land somewhere, my big thing is what’s the itinerary and is it too much?” she said. “I don’t want to look at an itinerary where it’s like we’re doing this, and then somehow we’re also doing these three things that are all a 20-minute drive from each other. The reality is people want to chill, and you have to have enough chill time in whatever the group trip is to keep the vibes good.”
And if there’s a night out planned? “You better carve in some sleeping time the next day,” she quipped.
