T+L's Hotel Review of Amanyara in Turks and Caicos

Amanyara

  • In 2024, the resort debuted a top-to-bottom refresh across its communal spaces and select villas, adding a sleek welcome pavilion and brand-new wellness spaces.
  • Wellness is woven into every aspect of a stay, with a robust list of daily activities, water sports, spa services, and multiday retreats with visiting experts.
  • Amanyara’s Legends Program brings in championship coaches and celebrity athletes to guide guests through sports clinics and training sessions at the resort’s updated sports courts and fields.
  • The spacious accommodations, complete with glass walls, private pools, and decks, are spread across the resort and immersed in lush greenery for maximum seclusion.

Sitting in meditation, I swatted away stray thoughts of pending projects and the snow drifts I left at home, until I heard a barely perceptible whisper: “You can’t see your reflection in a pot of boiling water.” As Amanyara’s resident wellness expert guided me through a sound healing session and harmonized the vibrations of a Tibetan singing bowl, the lapping of the ocean waves seemed to still.

As it turned out, simply being at Amanyara—Aman’s Asian-inspired resort set within an 18,000-acre nature reserve on Turks and Caicos—felt like lifting the proverbial pot of boiling water off the stove. Designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy, Amanyara crowns the northeast corner of Providenciales with the modern, angular architecture Aman hotels are known for. But it also channels the Caribbean’s laid-back lifestyle through a chic beach club skirting the resort’s half-mile stretch of white sand, swimming pools with uninterrupted water views, and open-air spaces with soaring high ceilings letting in cool ocean breezes.

Enjoy any of the sea activities on the bright turquoise waters.

Amanyara’s capacity to dial down the background noise of modern urban life has made it a perennially popular destination for almost two decades. In 2024, the resort debuted a top-to-bottom refresh across its communal spaces and select villas, adding a sleek welcome pavilion and brand-new wellness spaces.

But Amanyara’s draws go well beyond its physical glow-up. Its Legends Program introduces guests to world-class athletes—think NFL legends, soccer pros, and decorated Olympians—for exclusive sports clinics. Acclaimed chefs fly in for pop-up dinners and cooking classes. And guests snorkel along reefs coated with purple sea fans, roamed by schools of teal parrotfish, eagle rays, and angelfish.

Below, my complete review of Amanyara.

The Rooms

Clad in rich wood and walls of glass, my private villa featured an oversized bed, peering out onto a tranquility pond beyond a private deck. The expansive bathroom had dual vanities, an oversized closet, and a soaking tub, all complete with Aman-branded organic toiletries. I also shared a main house complete with an indoor-outdoor living space, an expansive infinity pool, and direct beach access.

Along with Amanyara’s 20 villas, there are an additional 36 pavilions strategically scattered around the resort. Not a single pavilion or villa is visible from the interior roads, resulting in uninterrupted seclusion and privacy. Ranging from two to six bedrooms, the villas sit on private 1.5-acre plots serviced by a villa host. Three- to six-bedroom villas also include a private chef.

Food and Drink

Both The Restaurant and The Beach Club—Amanyara’s two dining spaces—were recently upgraded, offering new menus and maximizing ocean views.

Breakfast at The Restaurant starts off strong with pastries prepared by the in-house French pastry chef, while later in the day, the menu tilts toward elevated Asian cuisine. (Many of Amanyara’s chefs got their start in the kitchens at Aman hotels across Asia.)

Sushi, ceviche, and poke shine at The Beach Club, which also offers more standard poolside fare. Make sure to migrate to The Bar, an oversized circular bar with soaring ceilings and 360-degree views, to sample the Caribbean-inspired cocktail menu and take advantage of its strategic position come sunset.

The Spa

Each of the four treatment rooms at Amanyara’s spa offers the same expansive footprint and airy design, complete with a spacious bathroom, changing space, shower, and a freestanding tub. Outside, the relaxation pavilion is the kind of spa space you’ll actually want to stick around for, with sun loungers spread around an infinity pool and a new cold plunge tub.

Amanyara’s treatment menu is similar to that at other Aman hotels, featuring Asian-inspired treatments such as Thai massage and water Shiatsu. Wellness offerings include a 30-minute InBody Assessment and Life Reset Immersion. Aman’s organic skincare line is used throughout the spa, featuring ingredients like palo santo and wild-harvested Amazon butters.

Accessibility

Amanyara wasn’t designed with ADA regulations in mind, but staff are committed to accommodating ADA compliance requests by installing ramps, assist rails and handles, and shower seating as needed. The team can also suggest specific pavilion and villa types best suited to guests with mobility issues.

Aman does not have a points-based loyalty program. However, Amanyara is part of American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, offering certain cardholders privileges like early check-in, late check-out, room upgrades when available, daily breakfast for two, and a $100 on-property credit.

Nightly rates at Amanyara start from $2,487.
