Ultra Mini Ugg Boot Review

I’ve come a long way since folding over the top of my Ugg Tall Boots with every outfit in middle school, thinking that was peak style (and honestly, it might have been at the time). Ugg has since transformed its cozy shoe collection, debuting fresh silhouettes each winter that reliably find a place in everyone’s closet. And as someone who has proudly fallen for every Ugg trend, from the Tasman slippers to the Mini Platforms, the one design that’s undoubtedly here to stay in my wardrobe is the Classic Ultra Mini Boot, which has become the ultimate proof that Uggs are still in style.

Offering a more modern spin on the Ugg Classic Mini, the Ultra Minis’ shaft stops right at the ankle so your heel stays put, your foot moves freely, and you remain embraced in cozy warmth. My feet heat up fast in these—even in the coldest of temperatures—thanks to the signature Ugg sheepskin lining that shoppers crave in these coveted boots. But it’s the soft twinface sheepskin exterior that nails the cozy-girl, laid-back aesthetic that returns season after season.

Some may argue these boots aren’t made for walking, but I think otherwise. The lightweight, flexible rubber sole makes moving in these Uggs surprisingly easy, while the soft sheepskin insole cushions every step, proving that cozy can be equally comfortable. I also appreciate the flexibility of the shoes, not only for the freedom of movement, but also for packing. I was able to slip my Ultra Minis into a carry-on for a ski trip last year, and their bendable, lightweight structure kept them perfectly intact while saving precious suitcase space.

Though the question remains: How can you style Ugg boots? The brand originally labeled its popular boot line for casual wear with comfy-cozy athleisure and loungewear. But if I’ve learned anything in my three years of sporting the Ugg Ultra Minis, it’s that they can go with anything. Thanks to their short shaft, these boots can be worn with any kind of pant without restriction—from bootcut jeans and wide-leg travel pants to leggings and joggers. Curate a seamless, put-together outfit by pairing them with your favorite sweat set, or with straight-leg denim and a chunky sweater for a casual dinner on a cold night. 

With new Ugg designs and details dropping annually, you’re bound to find a pair that matches your winter style. Though I’m biased towards the Ultra Minis, there are tons of equally fashionable options that bridge the gap between cozy and chic, from the brand-new Zora Ballet Flat to the now-trending Goldenstar Clog, with some styles even on rare markdown.
