Expanding Financial Planning firm Shackleton has completed its large-scale acquisition of Financial Planning group Argentis, formerly known as Hurst Point Group.

It is Shackleton’s largest deal to date but the price paid has not been revealed.

The takeover has been confirmed following recent FCA approval.

Shackleton says the move creates one of Britain’s, “most substantial independent Financial Planning firms.”

According to Shackleton, when it announced the deal earlier this year, the merged business will have: £17.5bn in assets under advice/management, more than 44,000 clients and 233 FCA authorised and regulated financial advisers and investment managers. The combined firm has 38 offices in towns and cities across the UK and 850+ employees.

Effective immediately, Argentis Group’s Financial Planning businesses (Argentis Wealth Management, Metis Wealth and Active Financial Partners) have been rebranded to Shackleton, with each entity adopting Shackleton as its trading name.

The investment management businesses (Gore Brown Investment Management and Hawksmoor Investment Management) will retain their existing brands as stand-alone discretionary investment management firms, alongside Shackleton’s core proposition as a leading provider of independent financial advice.

Andrew Fisher and Paul Feeney will continue to serve as non-executive chairman and CEO respectively. Andrew Westenberger, CEO of Argentis Group, has joined Shackleton’s Executive Committee, reporting to Paul Feeney, to support the integration process.

Argentis Group’s existing majority shareholder, Carlyle, has become a minority investor in Shackleton alongside funds managed by Lee Equity Partners, LLC, which became Shackleton’s majority shareholder in November 2025.

Shackleton says there will be no changes to the service provided to clients of the enlarged Shackleton Group, the people they deal with, or the teams that support them.

Andrew Fisher, non-executive chairman of Shackleton, said: “We have a genuinely distinctive view of what a client-centric Financial Planning and wealth management business should be in 2026. Today’s announcement means that we can make our vision of fair and affordable advice available in even more communities.”

Paul Feeney, CEO of Shackleton, added: “I am delighted to welcome Argentis Group clients and colleagues to Shackleton. When we launched Shackleton as a unifying business and brand in 2024, we committed to building a single, values-based, nationwide financial advice firm.

“The acquisition of Argentis Group marks a very significant step forward for us, in pursuit of this goal, as we continue to build Britain’s financial adviser.”

Shackleton was advised by Evercore (M&A) and Proskauer Rose (legal). Argentis was advised by Rothschild & Co (M&A) and Linklaters (legal).
